JoJo's Sock Monkey Sanctuary and Dr. MoMo's 4-PAWS Sock Monkey Rehabilitation Program

In my travels and shopping trips, I often find abandoned sock monkeys, who are folk art made by handcrafters over the years. Most times, they are hidden away from view, dirty and sadly neglected. They are often bereft and feel hopeless after being abandoned by a formerly loving family who were in their lives for years and then just cast them aside one day like an old shoe. When I enter a potential abandoned sock monkey habitat, I emit a high-pitched sock monkey scream that calls all sock monkeys within earshot and encourages them to push their way to the top of the heaps so that they can be found. Usually, I can convince them to come to the sock monkey sanctuary with me. Each of the sock monkeys whom I have brought home with me has an amazing story to tell, and they all have such unique personalities. Most of all, they are looking for a good home where they can once again become a loved and valued family member.

Of course, all of our monkeys must go through Dr. MoMo's 4-PAWS Sock Monkey Rehabilitation Program, a Sock Monkey-approved program that was researched and developed by my brother, Dr. MoMo Sock Monkey. MoMo is a brilliant sock monkey psychiatrist and shaman, who has an amazing ability to reach sock monkeys on the metaphysical level, helping them to identify and correct the "bad sock monkey" behaviors that often result in socially unacceptable sock monkeys. Dr. MoMo's 4-PAWS Sock Monkey Rehabilitation Program consists of the following four paws:

P is for psychic healing - MoMo's psychiatric and shaman training, that he received at SMU (Sock Monkey University), makes him uniquely suited to help heal the damaged sock monkey psyche.

A is for breaking anti-social behaviors and attitudes - once sock monkeys feel more positive about themselves, they must take a good, hard look at the bad habits that they might have developed without benefit of a good home environment, such as drinking, smoking, gambling, and excessive dependence on polyfil.

W is for washing in Woolite® - naturally, sock monkeys who have been living in dusty shelves and bins, need to be carefully washed to sanitize them (for their new owners) without destroying their cherished age-old patinas.

S is for surgery - although we try to maintain the creativity of each sock monkey's maker, we also stitch up any lose parts such as ears, eyes, arms, and tails.

If you think that your life would be enhanced by adopting a rehabilitated sock monkey, and if you feel that your family has enough love to share, please visit my "Sock Monkeys Looking For Good Homes" page.

Sincerely,

JoJo Sock Monkey
